Sandustry Florin, Florinol, and Energy Pixels

The botanical fuel chain — Dry Amethelis, Florin gas, Florinol liquid, and why hardened fill still counts.

Sandustry Florin and Florinol

Florinol is the liquid that makes Energy a pixel you can pour. It is not Gold, not Fluxite, and not Water with a fancy name. Official production order: Amethelis → Steam-dry → Dry Amethelis → heat → Florin (gas) → cold → Florinol (liquid) → Florinol Battery. This page is the material sheet. The factory walkthrough is How to Get Energy. Thermal buildings that apply the heat and cold sit on Thermal Buffer.

Pixel identities

Creator videos sometimes say Florenol or Amethyst. In-game and official wiki language is Amethelis (petals from Flowers), Florin (gas), Florinol (liquid). If a tooltip disagrees after a patch, trust the live string and file a note — Hotfix 0.5.3 did not rename these.

Voidbloom is a different Amethelis product: petals + RedSand → Voidbloom → Flux Emanator → Fluxite. Do not dry Voidbloom expecting Florin. Split the petal pile: some to Fluxite, some to Energy.

Density and handling

Florin rises like Steam. Roof the heat cell or you farm atmosphere. Florinol pours like Water but freezes if Snow or a cold structure sits in the puddle. Handle it in a tank above the cold source, then drop into the battery — the same discipline you use for Wet Sand mixers.

Do not run Florinol across a Shaker. Shakers want Wet Sand. A gold grate full of fuel is a fire story, not a yield story.

Filters should reject petals from slag belts and reject Florinol from Water pipes until you have watched one batch. Density charts on Material Ratios may lag these mid-game pixels; use the Material Scanner (Fluxite Upgrades) on a test pile.

Heat and cold rules (materials view)

Official beginner guide: heat only climbs solid → liquid → gas. Cold only descends gas → liquid → solid. That is why the Energy recipe is not “burn petals in a pit.” Steam dries (a specific building / steam contact), heat gasifies Dry Amethelis, cold liquefies Florin. Skip a rung and you get ash, Ice, or a rose-colored stain that is still just Amethelis.

The Thermal Buffer stores the heat rung. Snow, Condenser, or Cryoblaster supply the cold rung. Do not ask one tile to be both.

Batteries, bricks, and Auralite

Florinol Battery — 16 Energy per tile, filled with Florinol. On empty, the fill hardens and must be ignited with the Rocket Launcher. Florinol remains; Energy refills. This is the first store.

Power Brick — later node. Copper mold + liquid copper, auto-recharge from a valid input. Not a Florinol tank. If you only have petals, you are not in Brick territory yet.

Auralite appears on the official research spend list beside Gold and Energy for some late nodes. It is not Florinol. Do not pour fuel on a research altar and expect Auralite credit. When this wiki has a dedicated Auralite drop table, it will link here; until then, treat Auralite as a late research currency you find or refine separately.

Energy Siphon is a tool, not a material — it moves charge between stores so you are not carrying battery tiles to the Drill.

Failure pixels

  • Wet Amethelis in the heat cell → steam and mess, little Florin.
  • Florin + open sky → gone.
  • Florinol + Snow floor → Ice or a stuck slab.
  • Florinol + Flower row → you just built a molotov greenhouse.
  • Hardened fill deleted → you threw away the reusable fuel. Ignite, do not X the tile.

Where these pixels sit in the wider loop

Early game: Sand and Wet Sand → Gold. Mid botanical: Voidbloom and Amethelis → Fluxite. Mid thermal: this page → Energy. Deep: Lava as a heat import for both slag burn and the Florin step.

If it rises, roof it. If it pours, tank it. If it hardens, light it — do not bin it.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Sandustry questions.

What is Florinol in Sandustry?

The **liquid** you condense from **Florin** gas after heating **Dry Amethelis**. It fills **Florinol Batteries** for Energy. Walkthrough: How to Get Energy.

Is Florinol the same as Voidbloom?

No. Voidbloom is Amethelis + RedSand for the Flux Emanator. Florinol is the dried-and-heated energy fork of the same petal.

Why did my Florin disappear?

Florin is a **gas** and rises. Roof the heat cell or pipe it into a Condenser. Same habit as Steam.

Do I lose Florinol when the battery empties?

No. It **hardens**. Ignite with the Rocket Launcher to restore Energy. Deleting the tile throws the fuel away.

What is Auralite?

A late research spend listed beside Gold and Energy on the official tree. It is not Florinol. Use in-game tooltips until a dedicated page exists.

Can I filter Florinol like Water?

Treat it as its own liquid. Test Filters on a tiny pour before you share a pipe with the Wet Sand mixer.
